January 19, 2006 - Lieutenant Governor Lawton to Discuss Key State of the State Initiatives in Janesville - Will Tour United Alloy Plant

Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton will hold a press conference to discuss key initiatives outlined in Governor Doyle’s State of the State address, tomorrow, Friday, January 20, 2006 at 1:00 p.m., at United Alloy Inc. in Janesville.

Specifically, the Lieutenant Governor will discuss the Administration’s Manufacturing Supply-Chain Development Initiative.  Under the plan, the Department of Commerce will work with the Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership and the Northwest Manufacturing Outreach Center to identify and capture improvement opportunities for 100 small and medium-sized manufacturers, such as United Alloy Inc., that supply large manufacturers both in Wisconsin and around the country.

Lieutenant Governor Lawton will also discuss other initiatives proposed by Governor Doyle in his fourth State of the State Address, which centered around his Affordability Agenda, a plan to make Wisconsin a more affordable place to live for middle class and working families.  The Governor’s Affordability Agenda includes initiatives designed to reduce the cost of health care, education, and energy for Wisconsin families.
