Your Future Starts at United Alloy
United Alloy’s Weld Youth Apprenticeship Program is designed for high school students who are serious about pursuing a career in welding. This hands-on program offers real-world experience, mentorship from skilled welders, and a direct pathway to a future in the trades. Students who complete the program may also qualify for United Alloy’s Weld Scholarship — an opportunity to continue their welding education after graduation.
Together with local high schools, we are developing the next generation of welders, fabricators, and more. United Alloy is the fast track to your future!
We're Hiring Experienced MIG Welders in Ohio

- Earn $2,000 for each welder you refer that we hire. No cap on the number of referrals.

Experience needed
- At least 1-3 years of experience and knowledge of MIG Welding
- Basic math skills and blueprint/schematic reading skills
- Pass a UAI/AWS D1.1 weld test
- At least 1-3 years of experience and knowledge of MIG Welding
Shift hours
- 1st Shift: 5AM - 3PM Mon-Thu
- 2nd Shift: 3PM - 1AM Mon-Thu
- Mandated overtime on Friday
- 1st Shift: 5AM - 3PM Mon-Thu
Personal Mentor
Each Apprentice will be paired with an experienced welder who will serve as their personal mentor throughout the program.
Hourly Pay
Each Apprentice will earn as they learn. They will receive a competitive hourly wage while gaining experience on the manufacturing shop floor.
On the Job Experience
Each Apprentice will gain 450+ hours of hands-on experience, primarily in welding, with brief rotations in paint, assembly, and laser/form.
Employment with UA
After completing the program and upon post-graduation, there is potential full-time employment with United Alloy.
Program Requirements
- Be a high school junior or senior, age 16 or older
- Have reliable transportation
- Have taken a welding or manufacturing class in high school
- Be in good standing, confirmed through attendance records and a conversation with their shop teacher
- Be able to stand and walk for extended periods
- Be able to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and 50 lbs frequently
- Be able to follow both written and verbal instructions
- Have basic computer skills
- Be able to use a tape measure, calipers, and basic hand and air tools
